At first, Cisco CDP Monitor is a CDP agent for windows host. It is able to use the CDP(Cisco Discovery Protocol) which is a private protocol and is only used in Cisco's devices such as Cisco router, Catalyst switch and so on.
With Cisco CDP Monitor, You can send the information (CPU number and model, host name, user name and the windows version, service pack version) of your host to the connective Cisco device with CDP, and you can get and display the information from the connective Cisco device, such as device name, device model, port which is connecting with, administive ip address, IOS version, and so on. With these information, you can easily know the total topology of your network and you can easily do troubleshooting.
