BMI Calculator
BMI Calculator is a simple program that lets you know your Body Mass Index to see whether you should take more exercise and eat healthier food. To know your BMI, you should enter your weight and height. Weight can be entered in pounds and kilograms; height - in inches and centimeters. If you are more used to measuring height in feet, you can use the built-in feet to inches calculator.
Your Body Mass Index is supposed to be normal if its value is between 20 and 25, otherwise the program will diagnose you as being underweight, overweight, obese, or severely obese. The result will be shown on a scale where each of the above physical conditions is indicated with a particular color.
To me the BMI principle seems rather doubtful. The program told me I was a little bit on the underweight side, while I was actually thinking of going on a diet. Probably it is because the program does not take into account your age, whether you are male or female, whether you are thin-boned or vice versa etc.
However, the program help file warns the user that BMI will be inaccurate for pregnant women and people with excess muscle mass.
