The multitalented Xidea DVD Editor Plus is a perfect tool for creating your own home videos by splitting and joining video files, making slide-shows and supplying them with original audio files that can also be created using the software.

Xidea DVD Editor Plus is essentially two programs - AVS Video Editor and AVS Audio Editor - that you get for free. The Video Editor serves for creating films from captured or imported video data. As soon as you start your new project, you determine the project parameters in accordance with the format of the output video to be used. Working with video and audio files as well as with single images, the software allows you to apply a wealth of video effects to your project, such as color, grayness and gamma adjustment, blurring and diffusion effects, drawing frames or other pictures on your video, zoom, mirror and flip transformations and many more. Moreover, you can add video overlay (you can, for instance, make two or more films be shown on the screen at once) and text overlay to your project. Besides that, it is possible to supply the film with a sound track, the sound of the original video being either muted or not. The application renders your finalized file as an AVI, MPEG, WMV, Real Media, QT, 3GP or MP4 file. Finally, you can burn the movie. Here, among other possibilities, you can create a DVD menu for the film by choosing one of the 19 menus offered by the software.

What comes to AVS Audio Editor, it provides users with a decent set of sound effects that are categorized into amplitude, delay and special effects. Sound tracks can be viewed in a spectral, envelope or wave form. You can slice them into clips, marking precisely start and end points. Recording your own voice is also available.

Despite the seeming complexity of the software, it can be operated easily even by novices due to the abundance of in-program help: Xidea DVD Editor Plus offers not only on-line animated tutorials featuring the process of applying main effects to your video, but also provides you with six sample projects, guide tips and other useful information.

Our only complaint is that the right side of the program's window seems to be not fully displayed on the screen. But this is a relatively minor objection as all the functions can still be accessed.
