DVD Snapshot is a DVD player, the main purpose of which is to help users capture shots within a video clip and save them on their PCs.

The developers give a one-month trial period and claim that the software is fully functional during that time. However, in our tests, we discovered that the program is far from being so.

The major problem we have come across is the program's disability to choose among films to be played. For instance, if you have several movies on your hard disk, you never know what you are going to watch with DVD Snapshot. In our case, quite surprisingly, the software launched a film from the recycle bin, although there were several movies with a nearer destination. Only if you insert a DVD into the drive, DVD Snapshot is sure to launch this particular movie.

What we have also found very upsetting is that the software displayed a black square instead of many movies with the soundtrack played in the background. Unfortunately, there being no help file, we have not managed to find a reason for that.

What comes to taking snapshots, the software performs quite reliably. The only thing you have to do is to hit the SnapShot button, and the program will either save the shot automatically into the chosen destination or offer you to choose the destination manually, which depends on the settings.

Overall, the program's performance did not impress us much, which accounts for a number of points given below.
